Keys to success

Prepare for your unique situation

  • Plan for lesson delivery on one big screen or through individual computers.
  • Decide how you will share daily video lessons and student workbooks. Email? Google classroom?
  • Create a daily schedule that includes ample time for everything we offer: core classes in ELA and math, energetic enrichment classes, and self-directed learning on Dreambox and Lexia.
  • Make sure you’re free to circulate, dropping in to engage each child’s work, spark a discussion, and offer individual encouragement.
  • Plan for adequate prep time. We provide all the materials you need to ask great questions, anticipate misconceptions, and analyze student work.

  • Round up or round down grade levels to configure your students into two groups and limit the number of curriculums to prep for and support.
  • Decide how you will share daily video lessons and student workbooks. Email? Google classroom?
  • Develop a daily schedule that staggers core classes between your different grade levels. Prioritize your attention on math and ELA classes.
  • Make sure you’re free to circulate, dropping in to engage each child’s work, spark a discussion, and offer individual encouragement.

Movement & Mindfulness

Help your students get the willies out by leveraging free, dance, fitness, or yoga class videos you can find online. Personalize your class experience by pausing the video to challenge and celebrate student effort.

10:30 – 11am

Independent Reading
Create time and space for your students to become stronger readers by ensuring they have scheduled time during the day to read books of their choice.

11am – 12pm

Math Story Problems

Guide a rich math class by helping your students become nimble problem-solvers, discover multiple ways to solve challenging story problems, and then explain complicated mathematical concepts to you and their peers.
